Neotropical Migratory Bird Act

The Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act (Act) establishes a matching grants program to fund projects in the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean that promote the conservation of migratory birds. Funded projects will perpetuate healthy populations of neotropical migratory birds; assist in the conservation of these birds by supporting conservation initiatives in the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean, and provide financial resources and foster international cooperation for those initiatives. For every $1 received in grant funds, the applicant must commit $3 in partner funds.

Applications for the 2008 program are now being accepted and must be sent by November 15, 2007.

   

 

National Coastal Wetlands Conservation Grants

Funds generated from excise taxes on sport fishing equipment and boat gasoline taxes are set aside in the Sport Fish and Restoration Account of the Aquatic Resources Fund for the acquisition, restoration, and enhancement of coastal wetlands systems. This program funds only state agencies and their partners. Grants are available to coastal states and require at least a 25% match.

Request for proposals are sent out to coast states in the early spring each year and proposals are due in mid June.
